Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk responds to LeBron James season claim

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk looks to be in agreement with LA Lakers superstar LeBron James.

The Reds' minor shareholder and basketball legend has commented on reports of executives and agents wanting to cancel the NBA season.

In a post shared with his 45.9m followers on Twitter, LeBron wrote: "Saw some reports about execs and agents wanting to cancel season???

"That’s absolutely not true. Nobody I know saying anything like that.

"As soon as it’s safe we would like to finish our season. I’m ready and our team is ready. Nobody should be cancelling anything."

The tweet received over 209,000 likes and had more than 31k retweets.

Van Dijk was one of over 4,000 people to respond to the post.

The Dutchman shared a short and sweet message with the three-time NBA champion as he replied using a single bicep emoji.

At time of publication this subtle response had garnered 14.4k in likes.

It comes ahead of the Premier League meeting which takes place on Friday morning as club chiefs meet via video link to continue discussions in regards to the coronavirus pandemic and what happens next for football in England’s top flight.
