Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk reacts to Man City transfer

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has offered his well wishes to Nathan Ake after he completed a switch to rivals Manchester City.

It was announced on Wednesday that Ake, who formerly played for Chelsea, had made the £40million move from relegated Bournemouth.

In response to the announcement Van Dijk offered his public congratulations to his Netherlands team-mate Ake for securing his return to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old had taken to Twitter to share the news, in a tweet he wrote: "Very excited to join @mancity. Can’t wait to get started!"

Van Dijk replied to his fellow centre-half's social media post, with a short response reading: "Happy for you bro!"

The pair will now go head to head in the race for the Premier League title next season, and will also continue to work alongside one another while on international duty with Holland.
