Liverpool star Thiago's Philippe Coutinho transfer admission as former teammates reunite

Ex-Bayern Munich duo Thiago and Phillipe Coutinho have been reunited while enjoying a short mid-season getaway during the international break.

Thiago was not selected by the Spain national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, while Coutinho was not included in Brazil's side.

Thiago took to twitter to share a snap of the pair, both grinning ear to ear accompanied with the caption "Killing the homesickness!", while away in Istanbul.

The duo spent one season together at the Allianz Arena, in which the German giants won European football's most coveted prize in the Champions League - Bayern's sixth in their illustrious history.

Thiago joined Premier League titans Liverpool in the same summer and has since revealed how Coutinho played a vital role in persuading him to make the move to Merseyside.

Speaking just days after he joined the club last summer, Thiago said: "More than the football aspect because in the end, Liverpool is what it is for the last years, the last decades. They were amazing, they performed and it is raising every year as much as you can, as much as they can, as much as we can, is what I should say.

"More than that, it is the family aspect, the life aspect – how is the city? Where to go. How was the life [here]? People like Philippe Coutinho and Xabi Alonso helped me a lot to take this last step. It’s really good."

Coutinho echoed Thiago's sentiments on social media, posting a snap of the pair with their respective partners at dinner on Instagram.

The picture was captioned "Dinner yesterday next to this special couple. We love you friends."

Both Thiago and Coutinho have endured difficult spells of their careers in recent years, with the former failing to hit the heights he did at Barcelona and Bayern Munich in his debut season at Anfield.

Coutinho, meanwhile, is part of a Barcelona side in financial turmoil overseeing a mass exodus in which Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann have both called time on their Camp Nou careers.
