Liverpool star suggested as Ballon d'Or winner after imperious performance for Brazil against Lionel Messi at Copa America

Lionel Messi's Argentina crashed out of the Copa America on Tuesday, as Brazil ran out 2-0 winners to book their place in Sunday's final.

Liverpool's goalkeeper Alisson was in imperious form as he shutout the Barcelona talisman to record his ninth clean sheet in a row.

The No. 1 has not conceded a single goal in the competition and has won the golden glove with a game to spare.

Messi went close to scoring with what looked to be a perfectly placed free-kick but the Reds' shot-stopper was there to curtail the No. 10's strike.

Fans went into a social media frenzy as Alisson added to Messi's international football misery.

One fan wrote: "Another final for Alisson and Firmino! Sorry again Messi enjoy retirement pal".

Another added: "Alisson is the best keeper on the planet he is perfection in every way".

There is even talk of Alisson winning the Ballon d'Or after he recorded an unimaginable 39th shutout of the season.

One fan wrote: "Alisson Becker for the Ballon d'Or yes please."

Tite's side will do battle with either Chile or Peru in Sunday's showdown.

It is set to be the host nation's first appearance in the Copa America final since 2007.
