Liverpool star Sadio Mane tests positive for coronavirus

Sadio Mane has become the second Liverpool player this week to test positive for coronavirus.

Mane was absent from training at Melwood on Friday after undergoing a test which has since confirmed he has the virus.

Liverpool have followed necessary Government protocols with Mane having started a 10-day period of isolation.

The winger will now miss Liverpool ’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Sunday.

He will also be forced to withdraw from international duty with Senegal next week with his country playing  two friendlies against Morocco and Mauritania.

However, Mane would not be confined by quarantine for the Merseyside derby at Everton on Saturday, October 17.

A Liverpool statement said Mane "has displayed minor symptoms of the virus but feels in good health overall".

Earlier this week, Thiago Alcantara became the first Liverpool player to go public a fter contracting the virus. The Spaniard, similar to Mane, made the decision for the information to be made public.
