Liverpool star Sadio Mane’s boots sent into space ahead of crunch Chelsea clash

Sadio Mane is looking to make history with Liverpool this season - and he’ll be hoping these record-breaking football boots help him along the way.

Mane’s shiny new New Balance Furon V5 boots were catapulted into orbit ahead of the Reds’ mouthwatering Premier League showdown with Chelsea this weekend.

The signed boots, which are the latest colourway for the brand’s Furon and Tekela boots, were the first ever pair sent into the stratosphere.

The boots, attached to a specially designed hydrogen-filled balloon, reached a maximum height of 34,211 metres before returning to Earth, landing in an as yet undisclosed location.

Liverpool vs Chelsea predictions: Robbie Savage gives verdict on Premier League games

The Senegal superstar will be hoping this is just the first record he plays a part in this season, with his side chasing their first ever Premier League crown.

The Reds are currently two points head of fierce rivals Manchester City , but have played a game more.

Ahead of facing Chelsea in a crunch tussle this weekend, Mane says he hopes they can secure the title.

“It would be a dream come true,” he said. “Every player dreams to win trophies and there is no greater domestic prize than the Premier League.

Sadio Mane says Liverpool fans still haven't seen 'the real Naby Keita'

Liverpool is one of the most successful teams in the history of the game and we play every season trying to emulate the successes of the legends that made the club famous in the first place.

“Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush and John Barnes are all names forever remembered at Liverpool and it would be great to write our own notable chapter in the club’s history.

“It hasn’t quite happened in previous seasons, but we have always had a feeling that we were building nicely towards achieving it.

“We will give everything to get the club there as we want to make our own history and know how much it would mean to the city and fans.”
