Liverpool star Sadio Mane receives hero's welcome upon home village return and shows amazing generosity

Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane has shown continued generosity to his home village in Senegal, and received a hero's welcome when he returned home last week.

The 27-year-old, who missed out on Africa Cup of Nations glory earlier this month following 1-0 defeat to Algeria, returned to Bambali to check on the construction projects he is funding.

Last year, Mane donated over £240,000 to build a two-storey secondary school in his hometown and was given a warm reception as he arrived in his village.

The Champions League winner, who also funded the construction of a hospital and a mosque, continues to provide financial support for local families.

Ahead of the 2018 final in Kiev, the former Southampton man donated 300 Liverpool shirts to his village.

Mane was greeted with cheers and applause as he made his way through the crowds of people who had gathered to get a glimpse of the Premier League ace.

After reaching the AFCON final with the Lions of Teranga, Mane will miss out on Liverpool's clash with Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday.

The forward will return to Melwood on 5 August, with the Reds set to take on Norwich at Anfield on 9 August.

Five days after the Canaries visit, Jurgen Klopp's side will travel to Istanbul to do battle with Chelsea in the Super Cup final.
