Liverpool star Sadio Mane promises to get even better after his best ever season at Anfield

Sadio Mane has vowed to get even better after capping a fantastic season with both individual and collective honours at Liverpool.

The Senegalese marked the best scoring campaign of his career thus far by netting twice on the Premier League's final day to secure a share of the Golden Boot alongside Mohamed Salah and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

He then helped Liverpool to a sixth European Cup triumph, playing 90 minutes of a 2-0 final victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid.

But, despite voicing delight over his personal progress this term, the 27-year-old isn't resting on his laurels.

“To be honest, I think I improved a lot in my finishing,” he said.

“It was positive because I can say I improved every season, which is important in my development. I will try to work harder and harder to get better and better.”

Jurgen Klopp's side narrowly missed out on Premier League glory as they finished second to Manchester City on 97 points.

Mane isn't ready to stop at his first trophy, however, and added: “We have a great, great team.

“The future can be exciting, for sure. We’ll try to do everything to create something special.”

The former Southampton winger, who will take part in this summer's Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal, also hailed the supporters for their part in this season's success.

“They played a big part in the season,” he continued.

“[There were] very difficult games at home and they were always here. Keep on going because we need you! It’s very important.

“It makes the club special and it’s really important. Sometimes it can be a bad day and if the fans give you more motivation, it’s positive for the team and for them as well.”
