Liverpool star's future takes twist as injury set to prompt club to pounce for Aston Villa and Newcastle United target

Bournemouth are in pole position to sign Wales star Harry Wilson from Liverpool - and they could be about to step up their interest in the attacker.

The Cherries have suffered an injury blow to winger David Brooks - Wilson's international team-mate - with the former Sheffield United man facing surgery after turning an ankle in training.

Eddie Howe was already tracking Wilson, but the injury to Brooks is likely to heighten his pursuit.

Wilson is being monitored by a plethora of clubs both here and abroad, with German giants to be linked with his signature.

Howe has been busy in the transfer market already this summer after £15million signing Philip Billing arrived from Huddersfield.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also keen on 22-year-old Wilson, who impressed on loan under Frank Lampard at Derby County last season.

But Howe is willing to part with £25million to acquire his services permanently.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp gave Wilson a number of opportunities to impress over the course of pre-season, with the winger putting in a number of positive - and goalscoring - performances.

But with competition stiff at Anfield and Klopp understood to be looking at another wide player before the window closes, it appears increasingly likely that Wilson will leave this summer.
