Liverpool star's first words as Cardiff City player as move announced after Nottingham Forest interest

Liverpool's Sheji Ojo has spoken for the first time as a Cardiff City player as his loan move to the Bluebirds was confirmed on Monday.

The new Cardiff City addition has admitted he has a point to prove as he links up with his new club.

The Liverpool winger has joined Neil Harris' side on a season-long loan, becoming the club's third new signing ahead of the new campaign.

After the move was confirmed, Ojo expressed his delight at a year in the Welsh capital.

"I’ve got a point to prove and I’m really excited for the new challenge," he told the club website.

"Cardiff City is a massive club with great fans and great players – hopefully I can show what I can do here and fit right in."

The 23-year-old has spent the majority of his career on loan away from Anfield, with Ojo having gained Championship experience from loan spells with Wigan Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Fulham.

The former England youth international most recently spent last season in Scotland with Rangers, scoring five goals for Steven Gerrard's side.

Cardiff faced competition from the likes of Nottingham Forest for signature of Ojo - who has made 13 appearances for Liverpool.

"Wherever the ball is, I want to be involved in the game as much as possible," Ojo added.

"I’m delighted to get here in time for a full week’s training with the team ahead of the first home game this Saturday. Now it’s important that we start right."
