Liverpool star Mohamed Salah's blanks see Robert Lewandowski pull further ahead in European Golden Boot race

A couple of goalless games in the Premier League for Mohamed Salah have seen him lose ground on rivals in the race for the European Golden Boot.

The Egyptian remains on 10 league goals for the campaign, reaching double figures after a stunning hat-trick at Old Trafford helped Liverpool to a 5-0 win over Manchester United.

However, since then Salah has gone three games without netting. Either side of the Reds' 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, the Liverpool no. 11 has not scored in the 2-2 draw at home to Brighton & Hove Albion nor the 3-2 loss away to West Ham United.

While Salah has had a couple of uncharacteristically lean outings, other strikers around Europe have continued to feast on chances.

Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski is one, as he netted six goals in the previous week.

After a double against Union Berlin, the Pole scored a hat-trick against Benfica in the Champions League before finding the net on Saturday in a 2-1 win over Freiburg for the German title-holders.

Lewandowski is now on an incredible 13 Bundesliga goals from 11 top-flight outings, leaving the rest of Europe's sharpshooters with distance to make up.

Salah has company in second spot too, as Real Madrid's Karim Benzema moved on to 10 goals for the season with a strike against Rayo Vallecano.

Ciro Immobile also continued his strong start to the season for Lazio, scoring the opener in his team's emphatic 3-0 victory over Salernitana.

The Italian international isn't set to have things all his own way in the fight for the Capocannoniere, as Giovani Simeone, the son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego, is up to nine goals for the Serie A season following seven goals in his last four outings.

Here are the latest European Golden Boot standings.
