Liverpool star Mohamed Salah loses ground on Robert Lewandowski in European Golden Boot race

A rare goalless outing for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah on Saturday saw him lose ground on Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski in the race for the European Golden Boot.

The Reds appeared on course for a comfortable win at Anfield thanks to goals from Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane, before the Seagulls were able to fight back and secure a 2-2 draw.

It was a frustrating day for the team and for Salah, who set up Henderson's opener. The 29-year-old was only able to muster two shots at goal.

The blank for Salah allowed Lewandowski to temporarily pull clear in the race for the European Golden Boot, as he was on hand to net twice in Bayern's 5-2 win against Union Berlin.

The 33-year-old is now on 12 goals for the season in the Bundesliga and the German top flight's coefficient of 2.0 sees him on 24 points in the Golden Boot stakes. Salah is on 10 in the Premier League and has a score of 20.

Lazio's Ciro Immobile closed the gap on Salah on Saturday, as he struck in his side's entertaining 2-2 draw with Atalanta, taking him up to nine Serie A goals for the campaign.

Neither Erling Haaland nor Karim Benzema added to their goal haul for Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively, meaning they are level with the Italian international on 18 points.

Here are the latest standings after the weekend's action.
