Liverpool star Mohamed Salah gives perfect response to critics after win over Tottenham

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has provided the perfect response to questions about his form.

Whilst Salah failed to find the net for the eighth game in succession as Liverpool edged out Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Anfield, the Egyptian international played a key role in the winner.

Salah headed towards goal in injury time but Hugo Lloris could only parry away into the path of Thomas Alderweireld, who could not help turning the ball into his own.

Lloris was the man at fault but Salah deserved credit for his part in the goal. Despite continuing his barren run of form, though, the forward was in good spirits post-match.

The 26-year-old admits that whilst he has endured games without goals, he still feels that his return for the season is good considering other players are having career seasons with the same production.

“The important thing was to get three points,” Salah told Sky Sports. “I haven’t scored for a couple of games but there are some players who have the same number of goals as me but are having the season of their lives. I’m supposed to be having a bad season!”

Liverpool’s win over Spurs moved them into the top spot of the Premier League with six games remaining, while Manchester City still have seven left to play. City’s match in hand comes at Manchester United on Wednesday, April 20.

Salah will be hoping to get back to scoring ways when Liverpool travel to Southampton on Friday, April 5 in the next clash.
