Liverpool star insists Reds can't become 'obsessed' with winning the Premier League title

Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian has insisted that the Premier League title won't be decided by the outcome of their clash with Manchester City .

The Reds host the Premier League champions with a six-point gap separating the two teams ahead of the Anfield battle.

Many have stated that a win for Liverpool against the injury-stricken City would all-but seal a first-ever Premier League title, with the gap extended to nine points.

It's a top-of-the-table clash that has received all the billing from the media and both sets of supporters.

However, Reds goalkeeper Adrian , who deputised for the injured Alisson in the early parts of the season, has become the latest player to come out and play down the importance of the result.

Following on from Mohamed Salah's claims, the Spaniard has insisted that Sunday's result will not decide the title race, regardless of the outcome.

Adrian also reiterated that whilst Liverpool have their eyes on the Premier League, they would not become 'obsessed' and risk sacrificing their Champions League campaign.

“They [the fans] are excited like we are, but you don’t have to become obsessed with winning the league so soon,” he told  Mundo Deportivo .

“We want to lift it but we’re not going to give up the Champions League to do so. Anyone would want to have it back at Anfield.

“There are many months of competition left but it is a match that will have a certain impact.

“They want to reduce that gap and we try to extend it. The more the better. But Christmas is hard this year, more so for us with the Club World Cup in between.
