Liverpool star Georginio Wijnaldum reveals there was 'nothing concrete' to Barcelona transfer talk

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed there was "nothing concrete" to reports linking him with a summer move to Barcelona.

The 29-year-old was reported to be one of Ronald Koeman's primary targets in the summer transfer window but Wijnaldum has dismissed the speculation.

"I don't think it was that serious," he said. "Otherwise you would have read a bit more, or more would have happened.

"The way it looks now, I will stay in Liverpool. My contract is valid for another 10 months and that can change. You never know in football."

Wijnaldum has played in all four of Liverpool's Premier League games this season but is entering the final year of his contract with the Reds, while talks over fresh terms have stalled in recent months.

Liverpool would still prefer to break that deadlock but accept that Wijnaldum may wish to take on a new challenge ahead of signing what is likely to be the last big deal of his career.
