2019/20 Premier League champions Liverpool will face last year's title winners Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium this week, with the Reds looking to do the double over City in what has been an extraordinary campaign for Jurgen Klopp's side.
But there will be more than just three points and bragging rights up for grabs in this clash, with the guys at EA SPORTS choosing this game to feature in their Summer Heat promo within the FIFA 20 Ultimate Team game mode.
In addition to 'best of' re-releases, special objectives, Summer Heat voting boosts and various squad building challenges, the promo also includes cards called Summer Showdown Special Items.
Each week EA SPORTS highlight one real-world football match by releasing a special FUT Summer Heat player item via Squad Building Challenges for one player on each team from the highlighted matchup. In this case, it's Manchester City vs Liverpool on Thursday July 2nd.
The special Summer Showdown item from the winning side will receive a permanent +3 OVR stats boost. In the event of a draw, both items will receive a +1 OVR boost.
For the City vs Liverpool game, EA SPORTS' Summer Showdown special items are Reds midfielder Fabinho and City younger Phil Foden.
Fabinho has been given a special Summer Hear promo card, which is 92-rated and features significant attribute upgrades in comparison to his normal FUT 20 card, but it could be even more powerful should Liverpool grab victory against City on Thursday. Foden has also been given a heavily upgraded 92-rated FUT 20 card, with incredible attributes.
Both 92-rated Summer Heat special items, Fabinho and Foden, are now available to win through squad building challenges on FUT 20 right now, with the winning card automatically upgraded based on the result of Thursday's match. In the event of a draw, both cards will receive an upgrade of plus one.
According to popular FUT website Futbin, Fabinho's SBC costs around 150,000 cons to complete on Xbox, PS4 and PC, whilst Foden costs around 160,000. This represents very good value for a 92-rated card, and could be even better if upgraded another three on their overall rating!
The FIFA 20 Ultimate Team Summer Heat promo launched on Wednesday June 17, with EA SPORTS confirming that FUT players can expect the following:
- Fan votes for Fan Favourites to receive significantly upgraded special versions as well as the return of other community favourites as SBCs
- 'Upgradeable' Fan Favourites Objectives players
- Login loyalty rewards
- 'Summer Showdown', a new spin on Player Pick SBCs where after completing the objectives, players will get the choice of one player from one team in a real life football match or a player from the opposing side. The team that win's player will get a +3 upgrade in-game (a draw will result in both players getting +1).
- Best of' FUT 20 players in packs, refreshed twice during the campaign after an initial launch batch showcasing the return of some of the favourites from throughout the past year of content
Both SBC's will expire on Thursday July 2nd ahead of the game, so you'll have to move quickly to secure your favourite Summer Heat special item!
