Liverpool star Diogo Jota becomes world No. 1 on FIFA FUT Champions

Diogo Jota has been making productive use of his downtime as he continues to recover from injury by becoming the world No. 1 FIFA Ultimate Team Champions player on the PlayStation.

The 24-year-old has been absent with a knee injury since the draw with FC Midtjylland in the Champions League on December 9 but has clearly put his new-found spare time to good use.

Jota is a keen FIFA player and owns his own Esports team, which shared the fact Jota had become the World No. 1 on FUT Champions on its Twitter page.

The Portuguese star finished the weekend with a 30-0 record.

Whilst Jota is included in his own team, playing as a left-sided centre midfielder in a diamond and Jurgen Klopp is manager, he does not have any Liverpool teammates in his side.

Instead, a large amount of players are icons, with Brazil legend Ronaldo leading the line alongside Kylian Mbappe.

Alongside Jota in midfield are Deco, Patrick Vieira and Ruud Gullit.

In defence is Real Madrid's Ferland Mendy and Raphael Varane alongside Man City's Kyle Walker and Rangers captain James Tavernier.

Burnley's Nick Pope is in goal.

Jota's rating on his team is an impressive 99, with every single attribute maxed out.

It is not the first time the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star has impressed on FIFA.

Back in April last year, with football still suspended due to the coronavirus, Jota won a FIFA tournament between Premier League players, beating future teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold in the final.

Speaking to the Athletic in December, Jota revealed his love of gaming stems from a present his dad gave him.

He said: "Since my dad gave me my first PlayStation as a kid, it's been like another passion of mine. I always played football on it."
