Liverpool star Andy Robertson's first request as a Premier League champion? Two days off!

Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson says his team-mates are already pestering manager Jurgen Klopp for a break to celebrate their Premier League title win, joking: ‘Give him a couple more beers and we’ll get a few days off!’

The Reds won their first English title for 30 years on Thursday night without kicking a ball, as Chelsea beat defending champions Manchester City 2-1 at Stamford Bridge to end their mathematical chance of catching the runaway leaders.

Liverpool’s players and staff gathered together to watch the game and Robertson told of how the celebrations were put on hold after Kevin De Bruyne’s stunning free-kick cancelled out Christian Pulisic’s opener, before erupting when Willian’s late penalty put the Blues back in front.

"We won’t tell you the exact location but we are all in a hotel together as a team,” he told the BBC. "We thought something hopefully special was going to happen and that’s how it turned out.

"We went a bit crazy but the place went a bit silent when [Kevin] De Bruyne bagged a worldie free-kick. Luckily Chelsea reacted off that.

"The place went wild [when Willian scored] and we could sit back and enjoy the last five minutes.”

The timing of the FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend means Liverpool, who have already been eliminated from that competition, do not play again until they face City at the Etihad next Thursday.

"We're still trying to convince the boss downstairs to give us a few days off!” Robertson added. “Give him a couple more beers and I think we'll get two days off.

"He is well on his way but I think we may need to give him a couple more to get the days off."
