Liverpool star Andy Robertson has reacted to the 1-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid by taking aim at the Spanish side for their antics during the contest.
Saul Niguez gave the hosts the lead inside of four minutes after a mistake in the Liverpool defence, with the Reds also hard done by in the lead up as they were controversially not awarded a throw-in.
Liverpool had to weather several storms after the opening goal and despite also enjoying plenty of possession during certain periods of the game, Atletico held on for an impressive win.
It was clear that Atletico's rugged and frustrating style got to Liverpool's players somewhat and Robertson was quick to stick a couple of digs in post-match during an interview with BT Sport.
"We gave them the best possible start to get the fans behind them and then they can start falling over and things like that," Robertson told BT Sport.
"The throw-in should have been to us before the corner. The officials made a mistake.
"They tried to get under our skin a bit but I think we handled it quite well to be honest. We got on with it.
"We know we are better than that and we can be better than that. Luckily we have got a second leg to put it right."
Robertson also touched on Atletico boss Diego Simeone's antics on the sidelines, while he also sent a message to the Spanish side.
"Look that's what he (Simeone) is. When you are not playing against him it's probably great to watch. We have no problem with that.
"They celebrated like they'd won the tie. We have the Premier League to take care of and then we have the game at Anfield."
