Liverpool star Andy Robertson denies advising Arsenal target Kieran Tierney to leave Celtic

Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has denied reports suggesting he has encouraged Arsenal target Kieran Tierney to leave Celtic.

Tierney, 22, has been heavily linked with the Gunners, and Standard Sport understands the north London side have had offers of £15million and £18m rejected by the Scottish champions.

Reports in the Scottish media on Monday suggested Robertson, who plays alongside Tierney for Scotland, had advised the full-back to pursue a move in order to progress his career.

The Twitter account Anfield HQ (@AnfieldHQ) cites Ian McGarry - described as a "transfer consultant" - as claiming that Robertson had advised Tierney to leave the Bhoys.

But Reds defender Robertson responded to the claims with a swift rebuke via Twitter on Monday evening.

Quote-tweeting the Anfield HQ tweet about himself and Tierney, Robertson wrote: "Lot of rubbish."

Standard Sport understands that Celtic boss Neil Lennon is reluctant to let Tierney depart and the Hoops are prepared to demand a club-record fee for the Scotland international, who has four years left on his current deal.

But Arsenal remain confident a deal will be reached, with Tierney keen to move to the Premier League.
