Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain comments prove tough Arsenal decision was correct call

Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's decision to leave Arsenal has been proven right.

A late £40m bid for the England midfielder was enough for Jurgen Klopp and co to secure his services almost three years ago.

Since arriving at Anfield the 26-year-old has - after a huge injury setback - gone on to win the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup and Premier League.

Proving that his difficult decision to leave the Gunners was ultimately the correct one.

Speaking after signing for Liverpool in 2017, he told Sky Sports : "The first thing was the tough decision to leave Arsenal.

"That was the only thing that was really tough for me and the deliberation but Liverpool was the only option for me in terms of where I thought I would be playing.

"The team and the feel of the whole football club in general just sat right with me.

"I think there are really exciting things to come here and especially with this manager so I felt it was right for me to push to be a part of that.

"I’m delighted that I finally got the opportunity to."

As well as winning four trophies during a successful three-year stint, Oxlade-Chamberlain has racked up 80 appearances and struck 12 times. Seven of those goals have been scored this season.
