The Liverpool quartet have so far raised a huge £57,200 for Prostate Cancer UK – putting them top of the JustGiving London Marathon leaderboard across the country. They shattered their initial fundraising target of £40,000.

Ward, who runs for Mossley Hill AC, was the first member of the team home in an impressive 3:03.19 followed by Woodfine (3:32.15), Konopinski (3:32.15) and Edwards (3:56.23).

They fundraising push was boosted by a host of generous donations from Liverpool staff and players. Captain Jordan Henderson sponsored them £5,000 with Daniel Sturridge and Andy Robertson giving £1,000 apiece.

FSG president Mike Gordon put in $5,500 with Reds chairman Tom Werner showing his support with $5,000.

There was also a donation of 1,200 Euros from Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes.
