Liverpool spend more than any other Premier League club on agent fees

Liverpool spent more than £30million on agent fees last year - more than any other club in the Premier League.

Figures released by the Football Association have revealed the Reds shelled out £30.3m in payments and transactions involving registered Intermediates.

While down on last year's tally of £43.8m, it still exceeds any of their top-flight rivals, with Manchester City next on £29m and Manchester United spending £27.6m.

The numbers cover the period from February 1 2019 to January 31 2020 during which Liverpool signed five players - Sepp van den Berg for £1.3m, Adrian and Andy Lonergan on free transfers,Takumi Minamino for £7.25m and Harvey Elliott for a fee that will be decided by a tribunal.

The individual fees paid to each agent on specific deals are not published by the FA.

Chelsea were the fourth-highest spenders with £26.2m, while at the bottom were Burnley with £3.9m.

In total Premier League clubs paid more than £263.4million to agents – a minor increase on the total of £260.7m the previous year.
