Liverpool sound Barcelona out over duo, Man United and Man City go head to head for €70m star as Tottenham target Ajax midfielder - Premier League transfer reports

As we head into the final weekend of the Premier League this season, transfer plans will soon be going up a gear ahead of a long summer.

The current Premier League crop will be looking to bolster their squads ahead of next season, with the work for many clubs having already begun.

We take a look at the latest Premier League transfer rumours and gossip.

Man United go head to head with City

The Red Devils have been linked with both Joao Felix of Benfica and Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes.

But the MEN reports that with Fernandes on the verge of a £50million move to the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s side are now chasing a deal for Felix as well.

The Manchester outlet says City are viewing the 19-year-old Felix as a potential long-term successor to David Silva.

Liverpool  'sound Barcelona out over duo'

Spanish sports magazine Don Balon have sounded Barcelona out about the signings of Ivan Rakitic and Arturo Vidal (via the Liverpool Echo ).

Balon say Jurgen Klopp wants to upgrade on Jordan Henderson and James Milner this summer.

Joao Cancelo 'will cost €70m'

Both Manchester clubs are said to have been informed they must pay up to €70m to secure the signature of Portugal international Joao Cancelo and pull him away from Juventus.

Reports on Monday suggested that the Red Devils are preparing a bid of £42million to persuade the Italian giants to part with their prized full-back. Now, Italian transfer outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim the Red Devils have been told they must pay €65m to land the Portugal international this summer.

Tottenham target Ajax midfielder

Tottenham have already begun planning for life without Christian Eriksen, according to the Mirror.

The club are resigned to losing the midfielder this summer, with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich said to be interested in the Dane, but they do have their contingency plan lined up.

Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, who scored the only goal when the two sides met last week, is the player they’re targeting.

Eriksen won’t be the only player to leave the club this summer after Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Napoli are interested in signing full-back Kieran Trippier, according to Goal.

One former Napoli player that will be looking to remain in London is Gonzalo Higuain. The Juventus striker is on loan at Chelsea, but head coach Maurizio Sarri has called on the club’s hierarchy to make a deal for the striker in order to improve the club’s attacking options, according to Goal.

Elsewhere, the club have already decided that Kurt Zouma will be returning to Stamford Bridge this summer. The French defender has enjoyed a breakout season on loan at Everton, with the Toffees eager to sign the defender on a permanent deal this summer. According to the the Liverpool Echo, Zouma will begin pre-season with the Blues before any decision on his future is made.

The Toffees are likely to make a string of important moves this summer, with the club prepared to restructure their goalkeeping pool of Jordan Pickford, Maarten Stekelenburg and Joao Virginia, this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

A return for José Mourinho

And finally, we end with the news that José Mourinho could have a route back into football management.

According to Sky Sports Italia, Celtic have offered Mourinho the opportunity to manage the club next season. Celtic were crowned league champions at the weekend despite losing Brendan Rodgers to Leicester City mid-season.
