Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson claims early victory in Spain ahead of Champions League showdown

Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson will hope it is an omen for next week after leading his team to victory in Spain.

Jurgen Klopp's side are in Marbella for a week-long training camp in preparation for the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid on June 1.

On Tuesday evening, the 26-man squad were split into teams of six for six small-sized matches against each other.

And Henderson's side emerged triumphant from the mini-tournament.

The Liverpool captain was joined by Divock Origi, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Xherdan Shaqiri - who all featured prominently in the remarkable Champions League semi-final comeback against Barcelona earlier this month - along with Dejan Lovren and Simon Mignolet.

Roberto Firmino stepped up his return to fitness by featuring alongside Mohamed Salah as a "floater", meaning they effectively played for both teams during the event.

Liverpool arrived in Marbella on Monday afternoon and will return home on Sunday.
