Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne has criticised some of the club’s fans after a video taken in Liverpool circulated on social media.
A video emerged on Twitter appeared to show a group of Shrewsbury fans in Liverpool city centre chanting in reference to the Hillsborough disaster.
Liverpool faced Shrewsbury in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, with the Reds winning 4-1 at Anfield.
Not long after the full-time whistle, the video emerged which claimed to show Shrewsbury supporters making vile taunts about the 1989 disaster which caused the death of 97 fans.
In response to the clip, Burgoyne, who did not feature in the match at Anfield, quickly took to Twitter to call out those who took part in the chants.
“As for these Shrewsbury fans! Should be ashamed of yourselves,” wrote Burgoyne. “Liverpool showed nothing but respect today.
“Shocking, absolutely shocking! Out them and ban them for life!”
A number of Liverpool fans later praised Burgoyne for his tweet.
