Liverpool booked their place in the Champions League knockout phase with a resounding 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday night, but the match was a feisty affair.
The Reds raced into the lead thanks to early goals from Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane to get the home support bouncing in anticipation of the next round, following AC Milan and Porto's early kick-off 1-1 draw.
But the goals were soon followed by a red card for Atleti defender Felipe and from that point the visitors tried every trick in the book to restore numerical parity.
Following the clash, several members from the Liverpool side have spoken publicly about the incidents, while Klopp's comments from their previous meeting show little has changed.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's 'rough team' dig
Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed how his team-mates came up with a plan to counteract Atletico Madrid’s robust approach.
Speaking after the win, the Liverpool right-back claimed lessons were learned from the return tie, which saw the Spanish champions roar back from a two-goal deficit.
He told BT Sport: "We know what type of team they are. They like to suck you in to their way of playing. They are a rough team but we kept to our plan. Moved the ball quickly and scored the two goals."
Klopp's red card accusation
Jurgen Klopp accused Atletico Madrid of trying to get his Liverpool players booked to try and level the playing field on Wednesday night.
The Spanish side were reduced to 10 men in the first half, when Felipe was dismissed for a crude challenge on Sadio Mane, after the Atleti defender kicked across the back of the forward’s legs as he tried to launch a counter-attack.
Mane had already been booked, and after a challenge just before the break one Atletico player went down holding his head.
Klopp said: "The ball is in the air, no contact and a player goes down holding his head - we all saw what the Atletico players did trying to get the numbers equal against and I didn’t like it, I really didn’t like it at all."
Past comments re-emerge
And it seems little has changed from Liverpool's last-16 encounter with Atletico in 2020, when Sadio Mane was also taken off at half time.

The Liverpool boss told BT Sport after that game: "No he was targeted obviously, yes, that was clear. Sadio played a really good first half and the only thing they wanted was to make sure he got a yellow card."
