Liverpool set transfer valuation after Rafa Camacho refuses to sign new contract

Liverpool look set to sell £10million-rated Rafa Camacho this summer after the teenager turned down their offer of a new contract.

The Portugal youth international only has 12 months remaining on his current deal and has informed sporting director Michael Edwards that he doesn't intend to pen an extension.

As a result Liverpool will consider offers for Camacho, who has attracted interest from the likes of Sporting Lisbon and Wolves.

The Reds will demand at least £10million for the versatile 19-year-old and are prepared to retain his services for another year if their asking price isn't met.

Camacho, who wasn't included in the 26-man squad for this week's training camp in Marbella, joined the Liverpool Academy following a successful trial in 2016 after being released by Manchester City.

He impressed Jurgen Klopp on last summer's pre-season tour of America and was handed his first-team debut in the FA Cup tie against Wolves in January. He then came off the bench to make his Premier League bow against Crystal Palace at Anfield.

Camacho played for the Reds at right-back but he has been keen to show his qualities further forward this season.

After scoring a hat-trick playing up front for Liverpool Under-23s against Leicester City, he appeared to question the club's coaching staff when he posted on social media: “I do not know whose idea it is, but I will prove that they are mistaken about my football. I'm not a right defender, I'm an attacker who scores goals.”

While Camacho is likely to be sold, the Reds are set to sanction another loan for Sheyi Ojo.

The 21-year-old winger, who spent this season with French outfit Stade de Reims, has signed a new five-year contract. Rangers are keen to secure Ojo's services for the 2019/20 campaign.
