Liverpool 'set to sign' reported Nottingham Forest transfer target

Reported Nottingham Forest target Sam McCallum looks set to sign for a Premier League club in January.

The Reds are one of a number of clubs linked with a move for the ahead of the January transfer window, with Aston Villa, West Brom, Leeds United and Huddersfield also thought to be keen.

But now fresh reports are claiming that the 19-year-old is set to sign for Liverpool in the New Year, beating a host of clubs to his signature.

The report also claims that McCallum will be loaned back to Coventry for the second half of the season, in order to continue his development.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Leicester City have also been credited with an interest in the youngster, with all three clubs been claimed to have sent scouts regularly to watch the teenager in action.

McCallum has made 19 appearances for Coventry this season, and has been a vital part of Mark Robins’ Sky Blues squad.

Robins recently admitted that he could be left with no choice but to allow McCallum to leave the club in January, if the right offer comes in.

“Money talks and it’s not any different at any other club, regardless of where they are in terms of stature and division,” Robins told Coventry Live .

“If someone comes in with the right money then people will be available, there’s no two ways about it.

“But I am not looking to move anyone on. I am looking to maintain, first and foremost, and then add if I can.”
