Liverpool have agreed terms with Fiorentina to sell starlet Bobby Duncan.
The Serie A side made an offer earlier this month to take the 18-year-old striker on loan but the ECHO understands the Reds saw this offer as little more than tantamount to a trial which gave no value to Duncan or the club.
It was simply a loan deal with no commitment to buy the player and no penalties for the Italian side if he didn't feature - however, Fiorentina have since backed down and made a permanent offer of €2million (£1.8m) plus a 20% sell-on clause to secure the players services.
The deal comes after the teenage frontman was involved in an extraordinary social media storm involving a series of astonishing claims about Liverpool by his agent Saif Rubie on Twitter.
And despite the furore that surrounded the incident, which ended in the agent deleting his social media page, Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards has remained very calm and always sought to find a reasonable solution for Duncan while not acting to seek punishment in anyway.
Liverpool see this as a very good deal for all involved and credit Edwards with handling it very well considering the claims made against him by Duncan's representative.
The deadline for Italian sides to make transfers is at 7pm on Monday, September 2.
