Liverpool set for very mild and dry weekend before rainy weather

The weather is set to be mainly dry over the weekend across Merseyside.

Forecasters predict that it will be very mild and dry with some sunny spells over the next few days. There will also be a mixture of cloud cover at times, but it will clear to brightness.

The Met Office reports that the brighter spells won't last long however, with drizzle expected into the new week. Temperatures will reach highs of 17C on Friday, Saturday and Sunday but will dip to as low as 12C on Monday.

The weather outlook for Sunday into Monday is increasing cloud cover, with rain arriving by Tuesday. It will remain mild for this time of year, however light winds may become breezy.

Over the coming days tropical air will be brought northwards over eastern USA and Canada by Tropical Storm Nicole. This tropical air will meet the very cold air currently bringing wintry weather to the Midwest, and the knock-on effects is a very active jet stream that will bring a new theme next week, though the details are still uncertain.

Alex Deakin said: "A strong jet stream often leads to an unsettled, usually wet and windy theme with low pressures approaching the UK. These low pressures have the potential to become quite volatile bringing some very windy weather to the UK throughout next week so it’s important to keep up to date with the forecast over the coming days."
