Liverpool set for £60m transfer boost with bids for Brewster, Wilson and Grujic but Shaqiri vital

Liverpool's business in the transfer market is all but over in terms of incomings after the arrivals of Thiago Alcantara, Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas.

However, the Reds are not finished in terms of working out deals with rival clubs for players among their own squad.

The ECHO understands bids have been made for Rhian Brewster, Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic with the talented trio all attracting interest from top clubs across Europe.

This summer, Liverpool have been adamant those players would only leave the club if a permanent transfer deal can be reached.

As of yet, negotiations over any such agreement have not been completed despite opposition teams edging closer to working out suitable terms. Combined asking prices for the trio are believed to total around the £60m mark.

The club are relaxed over any potential moves, as games come thick and fast with all three players set to be involved at some point - starting with another match against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Thursday night.

Bigger squads in the Champions League, plus a congested schedule of cup matches and league games combined with the worry of players contracting Coronavirus - as has already been seen with Thiago - plus any injuries, means having more players among the squad will suit manager Jurgen Klopp this term.

The boss will be happy with more talent available to him for selection, particularly given his belief player welfare is at threat after the short pre-season and huge amount of fixtures they are expected to complete during this campaign without the implementation of five substitutions in Premier League matches - as other top flight divisions have put in place across Europe.

And therefore, if the Reds don't receive any offers to their liking, all of Brewster, Wilson and Grujic will stay until January.

Should that happen, Liverpool will reassess the market and Klopp will look at the position each player holds within his squad.

There is a belief at Melwood any one of the three could push on under the manager to become a vital part of the set-up, which is another reason why there is no rush to see any of them depart.

Klopp was impressed with Grujic against Lincoln in the third round of the Carabao Cup and the midfielder is likely to retain his spot against Arsenal in the next stage of the competition on Thursday night.

Wilson has looked very lively in training and his future may be dependent on whether a certain Xherdan Shaqiri leaves the club.

Liverpool are open to offers for the Swiss international and should he depart, Wilson will stay at Liverpool no matter what offer the club receive for him.

Brewster, meanwhile, is a target for three Premier League clubs including Sheffield United but despite this - he has shown a good mentality to get his head down and train very well up until this point.

The international transfer window is set to close on Monday, October 5 at 11pm for Premier League clubs - meaning top flight teams will no longer be able to trade directly with one another while the summer 2020 transfer window also closes on October 5 in Germany, Spain, Italy and France.

A second transfer deadline, meanwhile, is also in place with Premier League clubs able to trade with any team in the EFL up until 5pm on Friday, October 16 while there are slight variations in the Netherlands (October 6), Portugal (October 25) and Russia (October 17) - meaning there could be some movement for players away from their clubs after the window closes in England.
