Liverpool broke yet another record in their remarkable campaign as they won their 22nd consecutive league match at Anfield with a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth .
The Reds had lost three of their last four games prior to the game against the Cherries, with Jurgen Klopp's side suffering their first blip of the season with defeats to Atletico Madrid, Watford and Chelsea .
There were further fears of another shock loss when Callum Wilson put the visitors ahead in the ninth minute, but a goal from Mo Salah and a Sadio Mane strike ensured the champions-elect moved to within nine points of the title.
Liverpool have already broken a number of milestones this season, including registering their longest ever unbeaten run in the league and a club record for their longest run of consecutive league wins.
And the win against Bournemouth means they beat the top flight record previously held by Bob Paisley's Liverpool side by going an astonishing 22 games at home without dropping a point in the league.
They are now amazingly also unbeaten in their last 55 Premier League home games, with their defeat to Crystal Palace in 2017 the last time they lost at Anfield.
When asked about beating Paisley's record after the game against Bournemouth, Klopp said: "We will never compare with that fella. We didn't think about the number before the game but after we can. It's special, but we have to fight hard."
Liverpool's attentions will now turn towards the Champions League, and the holders face a difficult task to reach their third final in a row.
They host Atletico on Wednesday having lost the first leg 1-0 in Spain, and they are in for a tough game against Diego Simeone's side, who have not lost in their last six matches in all competitions.
