Liverpool sent Raphinha transfer hint after Leeds United switch

Raphinha has seemingly put the final nail in the rumours of a move to Liverpool this summer.

The footage from Leeds United’s latest pre-season training video shows Raphinha donning the number 10 on his training kit.

With Ezgjan Alioski's departure now official, it appears the Brazilian has swooped in to take the number 10 shirt, upgrading from the number 18 he wore during his debut season.

Liverpool were linked with a £32million offer for the winger last month following his impressive debut campaign in the Premier League.

Leeds would have demanded a handsome profit on the £17million they paid out to Rennes last summer but it appeared Liverpool were willing to tempt the Whites into letting the winger leave Elland road.

However, Raphinha insisted that he was happy at Elland Road and wasn’t thinking about signing for Liverpool, despite the speculation.

“It is difficult to define how I feel when I hear speculation about giant teams like Liverpool and Manchester United interested in signing me,” Raphinha told UOL Sport in June.

“Man, I grew up watching these teams on television. I saw Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, but I also saw Gerrard, as well as others like Henry, Deco, Lampard.

“There are so many players of such quality that it is difficult to say if I mirrored one of them.

“I think I mirrored the championship, you know? I loved watching and dreamed of playing here

“And today I'm making people happy with my football. I am not only talking about the other clubs, but also Leeds, who was the one who bet on me.

“They are all very happy, including the fans who seem to have a great affection for me.

“I have a contract for another four years and I don't even think about leaving here for exactly this reason: I am happy and making others happy.”

Now it seems the forward has truly put the rumours to rest.

Neither the club nor Raphinha personally have acknowledged a change in number, but it will likely be announced when the club confirm their 2020/2021 squad numbers for the new campaign towards the start of August.

While the rumour mill turned, the 24-year-old was active on social media, posting pictures and graphics in Leeds shirts ahead of the new season.

And now the latest footage of the Whites star in training has suggested he is not destined for an Anfield switch.
