Liverpool send Naby Keita on holiday as injury fears are eased

Liverpool hopeful are hopeful Naby Keita will be fit to take part in the club 's pre-season tour of the United States despite his latest injury setback.

The Guinea midfielder was withdrawn from the African Cup of Nations last week after suffering a recurrence of an adductor injury during his country's defeat to Nigeria.

The 24-year-old returned to Melwood for treatment but it is being reported he has now been assessed by the club's medical staff who do not expect him to be out of action for a significant period of time.

The player has now been told to take a holiday before reporting back for pre-season duty as planned later this month, ahead of the club's States-side tour which includes matches against Borussia Dortmund in Indiana, Sevilla in Boston and Sporting Lisbon in New York.

Keita, who scored three goals in 33 appearances in his debut Anfield season following his £52.75m from RB Leipzig, initially injured his adductor during the first leg of the Reds' Champions League semi-final against Barcelona at the Nou Camp, which was the final time he featured for Liverpool last season.
