Liverpool send message to Leeds United after Harvey Elliott horror injury

Liverpool first-team physiotherapist Chris Morgan has sent a message of thanks to Leeds United for their help in treating Harvey Elliott.

Elliott dislocated his left ankle when caught by a challenge from Leeds substitute Pascal Struijk in the Reds' 3-0 Premier League win at Elland Road on Sunday.

Morgan and club doctor Jim Moxon were later praised by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for being instantly on the scene to put Elliott's ankle back in place, and were joined by Leeds head of medicine and performance Rob Price and other members of the home medical staff to tend to the stricken youngster.

Paramedics were also on hand with Elliott eventually having his left leg put in a brace before leaving on a stretcher and being taken to hospital.

Elliott was discharged on Sunday night and is due to undergo surgery to correct the damage before beginning his rehabilitation.

And Morgan has expressed his gratitude to his counterparts at Elland Road for their assistance.

"Thank you to our friends and colleagues from the medical team at Leeds United who helped us look after Harvey on the pitch yesterday," he wrote on LinkedIn.

"Rob Price and his team really treated him as they would one of their own.

"Thankfully those injuries are rare but the shared training we do as part of the FA led ATMMIF (advanced trauma medical management in football) courses really comes into its own in those moments and to have paramedics on hand is always reassuring."
