Liverpool send four-word message to Tottenham ahead of Champions League final

Liverpool have got the ball rolling on the pre-match build up with Tottenham after their Champions League final tie was confirmed.

Spurs sealed their place in the final two of the competition in dramatic fashion after Lucas Moura scored a last-gasp winner.

Ajax looked to be heading through as they led the tie 3-2, until Moura's goal levelled the tie on aggregate but gave Spurs the advantage on away goals.

They will now face Jurgen Klopp's side in the showpiece event in Madrid on June 1, and the Reds sent their opponents a teasing message ahead of the clash.

Posting from their official Twitter account, Liverpool FC wrote: "See you in Madrid, @SpursOfficial."

Tottenham looked to be dead and buried at half time at the Amsterdam Arena, as they needed to score three goals to reach the final.

Following their 1-0 first leg win, goals from Matthijs de Ligt and Hakim Ziyech had put Ajax in a commanding position.

But a second half hat-trick from Spurs' Lucas Moura, including the third deep into injury time, completed the comeback.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was in tears at the end of the match after his side's incredible victory.

It comes just 24 hours after Liverpool's remarkable result at Anfield which saw them overturn a 3-0 first leg defeat to eliminate Barcelona from the competition.

Now the two English sides will battle it out for European football's grand prize.

It will be the first time two English sides have contested the same Champions League final since Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties in 2008.

In fact it will be Tottenham's first appearance in a European Cup final in the club's history.

Liverpool meanwhile are no strangers to the competition, having won the trophy on five occasions, and having appeared in last season's final.

The match will now provide an opportunity for one of either Pochettino or Klopp to win their first major trophy for their respective club teams.
