Liverpool youngsters return home from training camp as Man City preparations intensify

Liverpool have allowed a group of young players to return home as they ramp up their preparations for Sunday’s Community Shield.

Summer signing Sepp van den Berg , Ki-Jana Hoever , Yasser Larouci , Adam Lewis and Bobby Duncan have all left the training camp in Evian having featured in Wednesday’s 3-1 friendly win over Lyon in Geneva.

Jurgen Klopp has relied heavily on the youngsters during pre-season having been without a group of key names for much of the summer.

However, the squad has been bolstered by the return this week of Alisson Becker , Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah from holiday, while both Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita are available again after injury.

Liverpool took a 29-man squad to their week-long training camp in France but it was always the intention to trim those numbers ahead of the showdown against Manchester City at Wembley for the season’s traditional curtain-raiser.

The remainder of the Liverpool squad will fly back on Saturday ahead of the game.
