Liverpool seal long-term deal brokered by firm founded by Jurgen Klopp's son

Liverpool have added another sponsor to their portfolio with the addition of betting operator Interwetten on a long-term deal.

Struck last month, the deal, that will cover Germany and Austria, will feature a range of assets that will include offline promotions and content on Liverpool’s digital platforms in-market. The deal will also see Liverpool and Interwetten look to maximise fan engagement opportunities through the development of a joint entertainment programme.

According to SportBusiness, the deal was brokered by Onside Sports GmbH, a Hamburg-based agency specialising in the organisation of football club training camps and pre-season tournaments, a firm that was co-founded by company director Marc Klopp, the son of Reds boss Jurgen.

Liverpool commercial director Ben Latty said: "We are excited to launch our partnership with Interwetten.

"Together we will provide our fans in the region with new opportunities to engage with the club through innovative content and unique experiences."

Interwetten have already have a considerable presence in sport, being the title sponsors of the top tier in Greek football, known as Super League 1 Interwetten for sponsorship purposes. They also have a deal in place with TfG Hoffenheim in Germany and are sponsors of Greek top level side Asteras Tripolis. They are also, among other things, the main sponsors of the European Darts Tour.

Interwetten Group's speaker of the board, Stefan Sulzbacher said: "As a reliable sports betting provider, we always strive for long-term partnerships and co-operations with international reputation. It fills us with pride that, with the help of Onside Sports GmbH, we will have one of the most traditional and powerful club brands in the world at our side in Liverpool FC."
