Liverpool's transfer strategy hailed as key to Premier League glory

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch has hailed the club's transfer strategy after Premier League glory was secured on Thursday evening.

Manchester City's defeat to Chelsea has put the title on course for Merseyside and Crouch believes it's only the beginning for a period of Liverpool dominance.

“This is a young squad, they’re only going to improve. If they keep the front three together, they’ve got the keeper, the back four, there’s so many good players and none of them are getting on, they’re all young players who are going to improve," he told BT Sport.

"I genuinely believe there is a period of dominance, not just in English football in European football as well.

“The hardest thing in football in this day and age is recruitment but Liverpool have got it spot on. Not just in terms of the quality of the players but their characters as well and they’ve improved in every few months that we’ve seen them, there’s players going to levels that we would never have expected.

“We saw Salah at Chelsea, not the same player, Mane has gone to a new level, so many of them have improved and that’s down to Klopp. The team behind the recruitment need a hell of a lot of praise as well.

“Man City are one of the greatest teams we have ever seen in the Premier League and, with their attack, I don’t think we’ve seen much better.

"So for Liverpool to be 20-odd points ahead of them, it shows the magnitude of what they have achieved this season.”
