Liverpool's transfer stance on Cardiff City star revealed as Aston Villa and West Ham hover

Liverpool have no interest in signing Cardiff City star Neil Etheridge.

That is according to our sister title the Liverpool Echo , who claim that manager Jurgen Klopp will look elsewhere to boost his goalkeeping options this summer.

Earlier this week it was understood that the Reds had made an initial inquiry over the Philippines stopper as they seek to sign a back-up for first-choice keeper Alisson Becker.

With deputies Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius both strongly linked with moves away, Klopp is in the market for an addition between the sticks but fresh reports have revealed that Liverpool don't have Etheridge on their radar.

That could leave the door wide open for Aston Villa, who have seen an £8million bid for the 29-year-old turned down already this summer. Fulham and West Ham have also been linked.

Etheridge's recent comments suggest he would be open to fight for a place in a Premier League side.

He told the Filipino press : "You’re one step away, you’re one injury away, a couple of training sessions away from getting that No. 1 shirt, so there are how many ways you must look at it.

"You sit on the bench in the Premier League for one week, you could be playing for the rest of the season if the No. 1 at that time had a bad game."
