Liverpool's trans and non binary community set to celebrate visibility day

Members of Liverpool City Region’s trans and non binary community and its allies are set to come together to celebrate Trans Day of Visibility (TDoV) 2022.

The Museum of Liverpool is hosting an event which will celebrate local community voices and welcome trans support groups, who will speak about the services they offer. Starting at 2pm on Saturday, April 2, there will be a strong focus on trans young people, with performances from the young people of GYRO, the UK’s longest running LGBT+ youth group.

There will also be a banner and poster making workshop led by local non-binary artist Lo Tierney. Participants will make banners celebrating trans inclusion and trans joy and achievement.

Matt Exley, from the Museum of Liverpool, said: “The Museum of Liverpool is proud to stand alongside trans and non-binary communities in the city and beyond, building on years of work celebrating trans voices and telling the authentic stories of local trans people and calling for equality and inclusion for all. Trans Day of Visibility is one of the key dates in our calendar and we could not be more proud to support it for the fifth year running.”

Trans Day of Visibility takes place annually on March 31 and is a day dedicated to spotlighting the community and bringing attention to the fact trans people exist and aren't going anywhere.

For five years now, Liverpool's TDoV celebrations have provided a platform for local trans and non-binary with the event being developed and delivered by the trans community for the trans community. Trans Day of Visibility events can be followed nationally on social media platforms using #TDoV and #TransDayOfVisibility.
