Liverpool’s highly-regarded Sheyi Ojo has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan for the 2015-16 season on the same he also signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.
The 18-year-old winger impressed for Brendan Rodgers’ team in pre-season, scoring the winning goal in the 2-1 friendly win over Swindon on Sunday, but with game-time hard to come by, a decision was taken to loan him to Wolves so he can gain more first-team experience.
Kenny Jackett’s team are among the favourites for promotion from the Championship and also signed the former Reading and Cardiff striker Adam le Fondre on Monday.
“It’s a great feeling,” Ojo said after confirming his temporary move to Molineux. “I’m looking forward to the upcoming season. Hopefully we can have a good year and push for promotion. “It’s a really good club. It’s got great facilities. All of the players are nice, they have welcomed me to the club and the staff are brilliant as well. Everything’s going well, I’m just looking forward to starting the season at the weekend.”
Ojo joined Liverpool in 2011 from Milton Keynes Dons and spent a portion of last season on loan at Wigan.
