Liverpool's Royal Liver Building to light up with new festive light show this Christmas

The Royal Liver Building will light up with a magical Christmas light show this year.

For the first time in its 108-year history, the iconic building will be illuminated each evening until December 30, 2019.

Following the successful light displays of the River of Light Festival, when the building held its first display, Flight, the Christmas Show will capture the spirit of the festive period.

Organised by real estate consultancy practice CBRE and designed by engineering and consultancy firm Arup, Christmas Show tells a festive story for viewers to enjoy.

Featuring light scenes of snowfall, reindeer, Santa Claus and Liverpool's own Liverbirds, Bertie and Bella taking their place on top of the tree, Christmas Show will run until December 30.

There will be shows each evening at 6pm and 7pm, though on Christmas Day and Boxing Day there will be an extra showing at 5pm.

Simon Hepple, director for the National Building Consultancy team in Liverpool, said:“The new lighting experience is a vital part of the repositioning of the Royal Liver Building as a world-class office building and leisure destination.

“We hope that the Christmas Show will bring joy to spectators during the festive period whilst also showcasing the iconic building to both locals and visitors to the city.

“CBRE have produced an incredibly exciting vision for the Grade I listed building aimed at expanding its contribution to the city and enhancing its ability to attract more business to Liverpool and in particular to the city’s famous waterfront.”

News of the Christmas Show comes as the 'masterplan' for the Royal Liver Building arrives, as the landmark set to become a destination of work and leisure, with new amenities such as office space, a coffee shop, bar and gym are planned.
