Liverpool's Roberto Firmino hoping to avoid Champions League omen after bad night for Brazil

Roberto Firmino will hope he hasn't been given a Champions League omen after a shock night for the Liverpool striker.

Firmino was part of a strong Brazil side held to a surprise 1-1 draw by Panama in a friendly on Saturday.

The game was played at Porto's Estadio do Dragao, where Liverpool will travel to next month for their Champions League quarter-final second leg against the Portuguese side.

Firmino featured for an hour until he was replaced by Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus.

His Liverpool team-mates Alisson Becker and Fabinho were among the unused substitutes.

Brazil took the lead after 32 minutes through AC Milan's Lucas Paqueta only for Panama defender Adolfo Machado to level four minutes later.

Panama qualified for last summer's World Cup where they lost all three group games, including a 6-1 thrashing against England.

Brazil are next in action on Tuesday when they continue their preparations for this summer's Copa America with a friendly in the Czech Republic.
