Liverpool's 'proposal' for £70m star, Man Utd's £72m offer for 'best midfielder in Serie A', Arsenal to seal loan deal this week as Aston Villa given Ampadu OK - Premier League reports

The latest transfer news, views and gossip from the Premier League and beyond...

Arsenal close in on loan

Arsenal are set to beat Tottenham to the loan signing of Real Madrid's Dani Ceballos.

Multiple sources in Spain are now reporting that the Gunners are in "advanced negotiations" and want the deal done "this week".

The central midfielder, 22, is desperate for game-time, and the Londoners will cover all of his €3million wages. There will also be no obligation to buy at the end of the loan deal.

United offer £72million for star man

Manchester United have made an offer of £72million for Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Sky Sport Italia report that Old Trafford chiefs see the midfielder as the perfect replacement for the recently departed Ander Herrera.

The Serie A side are desperate to keep the Serbian, and value him at closer to £90million.

"Milinkovic-Savic? At Lazio, we keep only those who want to stay at the club,"  Lazio president Claudio Lotito told  Gazzetta dello Sport  last month.

"If the player expresses his intention to explore a new adventure, we will not oppose him.

"At what price can we let him go? Negotiations are not made in the newspapers. I will only say that he is the best midfielder in the league."

Ampadu cleared to leave

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has opened the door for Aston Villa to sign Wales star Ethan Ampadu.

The starlet will now leave Stamford Bridge on loan, with Villa boss Dean Smith keen on his services.

Lampard said : "Ethan is not here (on pre-season tour) as we’re looking at the possibility of him going on loan for the season.

"I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year, so I’m a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, I have to think of the bigger picture and the interests of Ethan and of Chelsea.

"The idea that he could play a lot of games somewhere is good for him and we haven’t brought him here while that is up in the air."

Trippier to leave Spurs?

Spurs right-back Kieran Trippier is in talks with Atletico Madrid.

The 28-year-old has fallen out of favour in North London and a move to Spain is now progressing.

A fee of £25million has been touted, which is likely to be accepted by the Champions League finalists.

The Evening Standard report that Napoli, Bayern Munich and Juventus had all been keen on him.

Liverpool in four-way battle for Pepe

French publication La Voix du Nord report that Lille are assessing offers from four clubs for highly-rated winger Nicolas Pepe.

The Ligue 1 side value him at £70million, with Arsenal, Liverpool, Inter and Atletico Madrid all said to have put forward a "proposal". Lille chiefs met on Monday to discuss the offers.

The Ivory Coast international has been the talk of the summer, and it seems clear that he will leave France before the transfer window closes.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his options in attack, with former player Philippe Coutinho also linked with a return to Anfield.
