Liverpool potential round of 16 opponents in Champions League draw

Liverpool will find out their UEFA Champions League round of 16 opponents in the draw later today (Monday, December 13).

The Reds emerged from their group with six wins from six following a 2-1 victory over AC Milan last Tuesday.

The group stage came to a close two days later as Atalanta were defeated 3-2 by Villarreal in the final fixture.

Villarreal's trip was initially set to take place the previous night but was postponed due to heavy snowfall.

The draw will be made today, at 11am , at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and Liverpool are among eight seeded teams.

They'll be drawn against the runners-up of the other groups, but cannot face another Premier League team or Atletico Madrid (who were also in Group B).

Who are their possible opponents?

Paris Saint-Germain qualified second in Group A behind Manchester City, so are among the teams Liverpool could face in the next round.

Sporting Lisbon and Inter Milan are also potential opponents as they finished as runners-up in their respective groups.

Another Portuguese side, Benfica, could also be drawn against Jurgen Klopp's men after they finished second in Group E ahead of Barcelona in third.

RB Salzburg beat Sevilla 1-0 on Wednesday night to finish second in their group behind Lille.

Liverpool avoided Juventus as potential opponents after they pipped Chelsea to top-spot in Group H.

Villarreal claimed the remaining spot in the knock-out stages in their rescheduled match last Thursday.

Full list: Paris Saint-Germain (Group A), Sporting Lisbon (Group C) and Inter Milan (Group D), Benfica (Group E), Villarreal (Group F), RB Salzburg (Group G)
