Liverpool's NHS appreciation pictures show just how much we care

Families in Liverpool have posted messages of support to our 'NHS superheroes' along with colourful rainbow paintings and drawings.

Across the UK last night at 8pm, thousands of people clapped on their front doorsteps, balconies, windows and gardens to show their support for our NHS workers on the frontline battling the coronavirus pandemic.

Clap For Carers also saw a huge response from people in Merseyside with residents in city centre apartment blocks clapping from their windows while those at the few shops still open stood on the street joined in too.

NHS workers also gathered outside Liverpool's Royal Hospital to join in.

Over the last week, families have also been trying to keep spirits up by sticking rainbow drawings in their window as part of a new Rainbow Trail movement.

Children have painted, drawn and created a rainbow to display so that people passing by will be instantly cheered up by the sight of the pretty designs.

Some of the rainbows have also included messages of praise to NHS key workers including doctors, nurses and carers who are risking their own health to treat others.
