Liverpool's new Nike away kit next to be leaked after home strip blunder

Liverpool's new away shirt for the 2020-21 season has been leaked online and has received a mixed reaction from supporters.

The Premier League champions have signed a new lucrative deal with American giants Nike to sponsor them in a £80m per year deal.

But they were left red-faced as first their new home kit and now their away strip was leaked online before the date of its official release.

The latter sees a light blue shirt with black trimmings on the sleeves and collar, and is certainly something a bit different following Liverpool's five years of being sponsored by New Balance.

Some fans were far from impressed with what they saw, with one saying: "Horrific. Who at the club gave this the green light?"

Another added "Nike kits are awful," while one simply said "No, just no."

Some were more taken by the strip, however, with one fan saying "Love it! Fresh!" while another added "Love it - can't wait for the marketing campaigns that come with the Nike deal! Exciting!"

The deal with Nike officially begins on August 1, which was a pushed back date as a result of the delay to the end of the season caused by coronavirus.

Liverpool's managing director and chief commercial officer Billy Hogan seemed positive about the new sponsors, saying at the time of the partnership being announced in January: "Our iconic kit is a key part of our history and identity.

“We welcome Nike into the LFC family as our new official kit supplier and expect them to be an incredible partner for the club, both at home and globally as we continue to expand our fanbase.

“As a brand, Nike reflects our ambitions for growth, and we look forward to working with them to bring fans new and exciting products.”
