Liverpool's citywide coronavirus rate is approaching 300 cases per 100,000 people as some parts of the city struggle with even higher infection rates.
Almost 1,460 cases were recorded in the city in the week up to June 22, a leap of almost 600 in seven days.
The infection rate over the same period was 293.1 cases per 100,000 people.

The situation in some wards is significantly worse, with Riverside's rate standing at 498, Greenbank's at 470 and Picton's at 446 cases per 100,000 people.
It comes as the number of vaccinated people in Liverpool continues to lag behind its neighbours, though it is continuing to rise.
Just under 61% of residents over the age of 16 have now received at least one jab, with just under 45% having received both.
The available data indicates the vaccine is having an impact in reducing serious illness from the disease, though experts say two jabs is required for strong protection against the Delta variant, which accounts for most new cases in the UK.
Medical professionals across our region are pleading with everyone to take up the offer of a jab, with all over 18s now eligible.
Earlier this week, Rowan Pritchard Jones, medical director at St Helens and Whiston hospitals, said rising infection rates in the community were “now very clearly translating into people being admitted to hospital”.
Dr Pritchard Jones added that the patients being admitted were “younger than ever” and either hadn’t had a vaccine or had had only one dose.
He said: “Please come forward for your vaccine. This will make you safer, this will make it safer for your family and your friends.
“Our under-40s is where we see rates of vaccination drop off and it has never been easier to get your vaccine. Anybody over 18 needs to get their first jab in their arm.”
In Liverpool, infections from the virus are not spread evenly, with some areas significantly more badly affected than others
